Ana Carolina Santos Coelho

Ana Carolina Santos Coelho is President and Founder of LAPDIH — Research Laboratory in International Humanitarian Law and Children's Rights, a lawyer and specialist in International Law. She is Research Director of the Núcleo de Estudos e Pesquisa em Direito Internacional at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (NEPEDI-UERJ) and a member of the International Law Commission of the Brazilian Bar Association — Rio de Janeiro Section (OAB-RJ).

She coordinated the then-named Contemporary International Law Research Group at the International Law Center (CEDIN), overseeing its reactivation and restructuring, leading one of the most far-reaching selection processes in the Center's history, and developing the editorial plan for four works, in Portuguese and English, dedicated to International Humanitarian Law and International Child Abduction.

Author of several publications in Public and Private International Law, she has lectured at some of Brazil's leading institutions dedicated to the study of International Law. Her academic path also extends internationally, with further training at reference institutions such as The Hague Academy of International Law, the Fondation René Cassin — Institut International des Droits de l'Homme and the International Institute of Humanitarian Law in Sanremo.

Her work focuses especially on International Humanitarian Law and International Child Protection, spanning research on armed conflicts, new technologies and child protection, as well as experience in research and documentation of human rights violations suffered by refugees and populations affected by armed conflicts in Sub-Saharan Africa.
